Alabama Cook Earns $10,000 With Award-Winning Burger

Kansas City Pitmaster Wins BIG At World Food Championships

Kansas City is arguably one of the best barbecue and tailgating cities in America, in addition to being home to some of the nation’s most award-winning pitmasters. Well, make no bones about it. At this year’s 8th annual World Food Championships (WFC), that fact came through loud and clear as pitmaster Ryan Murphy impressed certified judges from around the world with his hometown flavors during WFC’s challenging barbecue contest. Along with taking home a World Barbecue Championship win, Murphy earned $10,000 and grabbed a spot to compete for the overall World Food Champion title in May, which adds another $100,000 bonus prize to the ultimate winner’s payday.

Southern Chef Whips Up $10,000 Winning Dish at World Food Championships

General Manager and Chef of SAW’s Soul Kitchen in Birmingham, Alabama, Matthew Statham, displayed his culinary skills at the World Food Championships (WFC) in October by taking first place in the tournament’s Chef category. After three rounds of culinary challenges, he was awarded $10,000 in cash and secured a spot at the final event to compete for the overall World Food Champion in spring 2020.
