World Food Championships Partners with SSP America and Indiana Grown at Indianapolis International Airport to Offer Limited Edition Menu Items

Indianapolis, IN – (October 27, 2024) – The World Food Championships (WFC) is excited to announce a unique partnership with SSP America for activation at the Indiana Grown at the Farmer’s Market restaurant located inside the Indianapolis International Airport. This collaboration brings two limited edition, exclusive menu items to travelers, highlighting the upcoming World Food Championships event taking place at the nearby Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center from November 8-12, 2024.

The special menu, available now through mid-November, showcases culinary excellence inspired by award-winning dishes from past WFC champions, offering a preview of the world-class food sport experience consumers can expect.

The first featured item is a classic comfort food with a gourmet twist:
Italian Grilled Cheese and Tomato Bisque – This pairing features smoked provolone, parmesan, and basil pesto on griddled sourdough bread, served with a rich tomato bisque. The flavors are a nod to the creativity and innovation seen at past World Food Championships, where simple ingredients are transformed into culinary masterpieces.

For those with a sweet tooth, the second featured item is:
Pumpkin Spice Bread Pudding – This dessert is topped with caramel sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream, delivering a perfect blend of seasonal flavors that evoke the warmth of autumn and the excitement of the WFC competition season.

“We’re thrilled to bring a taste of the World Food Championships to travelers at Indianapolis International Airport through this partnership with SSP America and Indiana Grown,” said Michael Eaton, CEO of World Food Championships. “These dishes, inspired by our talented champions, give visitors a delicious preview of the culinary creativity and competition coming to Indianapolis in November. They also place a spotlight on the high quality of ingredients that are sourced from within the Hoosier state.”

Travelers passing through Concourse B can experience this exclusive menu now and attend the 2024 World Food Championships to see firsthand the skills and passion that make WFC the ultimate food sport competition.

Indiana Grown is a statewide initiative that supports local farmers and producers by promoting Indiana-made agricultural products. With members from all 92 counties, the program connects consumers to locally grown foods, strengthening Indiana's agricultural economy and celebrating the state’s farming heritage. Opened in 2023, the restaurant is a partnership between the Indianapolis Airport Authority, the Indiana Grown initiative and its members, and SSP America, which operates restaurant venues at airports throughout North and South America.

Since its debut in 2012, the World Food Championships has attracted a global following, providing unique culinary experiences at live events and through numerous television appearances. The WFC platform has revolutionized competitive cooking, known as “Food Sport,” by offering a level playing field, a fair judging system, and innovative culinary programming. Over the years, WFC has facilitated the creation of more than 10,000 new dishes and has partnered with local non-profits, charities, and food banks across the U.S.

The 2024 World Food Championships will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana, from November 8-12, with qualifying events taking place throughout the year. The Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion will be the heart of the action, with competitions, live demonstrations, and unique fan experiences spread throughout the venue.
