The World Food Championships partners with BELO to benefit Dallas foodies

The world’s largest Food Sport competition, the World Food Championships (WFC), announced it has joined forces with BELO Media Group –– one of the largest media groups in the metro Dallas area.

The partnership was developed to help serve the growing foodie scene in the Dallas area by offering exclusive content, access and special giveaways at this year’s “Ultimate Food Fight.”

Scheduled for Oct. 16-20, WFC will take place on the Reunion Tower Lawn and attract more than 1,500 chefs and cooks from around the world as they dish it out in 10 categories. More than $350,000 is up for grabs in the food fight, which is now going into its eighth season and its recent Final Table Challenge will be featured on CNBC this August.

“There is nothing like experiencing Food Sport and Food TV up close and personal,” said Mike McCloud, President and CEO of WFC. “By working with BELO and their culinary fans, we plan to show Dallas foodies that this event is unlike any other. It provides insight on food trends, access to world-class chefs and tons of sampling opportunities with food brands that you simply don’t see every day.”

Over the course of the event’s history, WFC has awarded more than $2 million in cash and prizes, garnered more than 6.9 billion media impressions and connected 200+ food brands with food fans, food bloggers and food contestants. In short, the WFC platform has given birth to “Food Sport” by providing a level playing field, a fair judging system, innovative culinary programming, ambassador opportunities, TV visibility and a process that allows talented culinary teams to gain the respect they deserve.

The fast-paced cooking tournament features 10 categories: Bacon, Barbecue, Burger, Chef, Chili, Dessert, Recipe, Sandwich, Seafood and Steak. For pure foodies, WFC offers an array of special experiences, like tastings at the Walmart Tasting Pavilion, free food demos on Maximus and a bbq-lover's showdown at Bourb' N' Que.
