The World Food Championships Selects 24-Hour Club As Local Non-Profit Beneficiary

The World Food Championships (WFC) announced it will be using one of its signature events to benefit  The Dallas 24-Hour Club, a nonprofit organization that provides sober transitional living for homeless individuals.

“We are truly impressed with what the Dallas 24-Hour Club represents, both in purpose and people,” commented Mike McCloud, President and CEO of WFC, which just relocated its October Main Event to the Dallas market.

The Grand Tasting, which will feature award-winning dishes from past events, will take patrons on a taste-bud journey like no other. Scheduled for Oct 17 from 6 - 9 pm, the event will give foodies a chance to taste entries that have won more than $300,000 in Food Sport, while also providing unparalleled access to the Food Champs who created the dishes. This is a night of firsts, as attendees will enjoy progressive tastings and drink pairings in the heart of Kitchen Arena, a venue historically only accessible to our competitors and judges. This event is 21+. Click here for more info about The Grand Tasting and other WFC special events.

“This is a unique moment where you can taste incredible food and learn about the motivation/creativity behind each dish,” stated McCloud, who also pointed out that proceeds from the event will benefit the 24-Hour Club.

Founded in 1969, The Dallas 24-Hour Club is a registered non-profit organization in Dallas that provides sober transitional living for homeless individuals to escape the addictive cycle of alcohol and substance abuse.

As part of the new relationship with 24-Hour Club, WFC will also be sending two of its World Food Champions to participate in the Dallas All-Star Chef Classic. This event was started by Terry Kranz, owner of TK Culinary, a Dallas-based catering company. Serving as a board member and supporter of Dallas 24-Hour Club, Terry lived there twice during the height of his addiction. The Dallas All-Star Chef Classic was born with a mission to help with fundraising efforts and to further addiction awareness within the restaurant community.

This year’s Dallas All-Star Chef Class is being held on October 13th at 6500 Cedar Springs Road, Dallas, TX 75235 from 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm. The night will include a silent and live auction and music by Georgia Bridgewater Band.

“We are looking forward to the wonderful things this new relationship will bring,” said Marsha Williamson, executive director of The 24-Hour Club. “We are so excited to have WFC and its Food Champs take part in helping us reach our 2020 fundraising goal.”

WFC’s 8th Annual Main Event is scheduled for October 16 – 20, 2019, at Reunion Tower Lawn in Dallas, Texas. To keep up with all WFC news, follow World Food Championships on Twitter (@WorldFoodChamp), and Facebook or Instagram (@WorldFoodChampionships). Click here to book your room for #WFC2019.
