The Oyster Bed Joins WFC For Unique Seafood "Structure" Challenge

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (May 23, 2017) -- We’ve all heard that “the world is your oyster.” Thanks to a new sponsorship and alliance with The Oyster Bed LLC, WFC is about to give Food Champs an opportunity to prove that concept. Contestants in the Seafood category will be using The Oyster Bed’s unique, eco-friendly product to prove they are worthy to move on to the Top 10, which is the event’s “money” round.

The Oyster Bed is an American Gulf Coast-based, veteran and family-owned small business. Co-Founder’s Adam and Tommy Waller (The Waller Brothers) developed the product idea during a family get together before one of Tommy’s many overseas deployments. The two brothers successfully formed their company while Tommy was off in Africa with the Marines.

After a lot of trial and error learning, The Waller Brothers developed the unique features of their product design and paired this with a specially formulated aluminum alloy whose thermal qualities, durability and lightness make it a perfect match for the cookware’s functionality and for the brothers’ desire for a low-maintenance, easy-cleaning cookware product.

WFC is proud to support the company’s dedicated purpose: using innovative cookware to enable professional chefs and home cooks alike to cultivate creative cooking while simultaneously educating consumers on the value of oysters and the world's coastal ecosystems.

For WFC, this is also an opportunity to utilize unique products in the tournament. For example, Seafood competitors will be required to use The Oyster Bed’s “Le Petite” cookware product during the Structured round of the Seafood Championship as they create Oysters Rockefeller. As a bonus to ALL categories, the company will be providing Le Petites to every contestant who makes the Top 10 in ANY category, as well as a set of the company’s entire product line to WFC’s Ultimate Champion.

By using Oyster’s Bed products throughout the championship, WFC hopes Food Champs will utilize these environmentally-friendly products in their kitchens back home. Asked about this partnership opportunity with WFC, Co-Founder Tommy Waller said “Adam and I consider it an absolute blessing to have the opportunity to support the World Food Championships.  Having our Oyster Beds in the hands of some of the world’s most talented chefs is perhaps one of the greatest honors we’ve experienced since founding this company.  We hope that each chef who uses The Oyster Bed not only enjoys its culinary functionality but also embraces its environmental purpose.  Our coastal estuaries can only benefit from having culinary advocates such as these since we trust that they are people who love seafood AND want to protect where it comes from!”

About the Oyster Bed
The Oyster Bed founders, The Waller Brothers, developed the product idea from a deep appreciation of coastlines and oysters. The company supports the age-old eco-friendly and sustainable practice of encouraging the shells from pre-shucked to be sent back to fishermen where they can be used to build new oyster reefs along our coastal estuaries. The reefs serve as both a sanctuary for marine life and a barrier against high energy waves that can cause coastal erosion.
