Chili Weather Forecasted for Florida in November
November in Florida may not be known for its chilly weather, but thanks to a new partnership between the World Food Championships and Hormel Foods Corporation, there’s certainly going to be a great chili weekend in the Sunshine State this fall.
WFC announced today that Hormel Foods, the maker of Hormel® has become the sponsor of the structured round category in the 2015 World Open chili Championship, one of nine categories of the food tournament. The event will be held Nov 3-10 in Celebration, Fla., in the Heart of Kissimmee.
“We really love seeing what new culinary artists can create with Hormel® Chili as their base ingredient,” said Justin Lintz, Brand Manager with Hormel®, one of the best known brands in chili since 1935.
Lintz said that Hormel Foods first became interested in the World Food Championships when the company learned about the recipe contests that could earn registrants a chance to compete on the national stage.
“Our website is full of wonderful ideas for creating full meals and side dishes from Hormel® Chili products, but to sponsor a chili recipe contest that used one specific variety of Hormel® Chili is a wonderful way to see what new ideas are out there,” Lintz continued.
The success of the online recipe contest opened the door for Hormel® Chili to become a key ingredient for the live competition where 500 contestants are expected to compete for $300,000 in prize money.
“We know that the chili competitors are some of our most creative and spirited food athletes,” said Mike McCloud, CEO of World Food Championships. “From the People’s Choice Chili Cook Off to the actual eliminations round of the World Food Championships, Hormel® Chili will find world-class competitors turning their Hormel® No Bean Chili brand into distinctive and delightful new tastes.”
