WFC Junior Competition Returns to Kitchen Arena with Expanded Field for 2025 Event in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – (August 25, 2025) – The World Food Championships (WFC) is excited to announce that the beloved WFC Jr. competition returns as a highlighted feature of the 2025 event, scheduled for Saturday, October 18 inside Kitchen Arena at the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center. Building on the excitement of last year, this year’s competition will showcase an expanded roster of young culinary talents representing a wide variety of nationally and locally acclaimed programs, including SkillsUSA, ProStart, Paramount Schools of Excellence, and more.

As part of a full day of ancillary events, including the Battle of the Branches and Biscuits & Jampionship, the WFC Jr. contest celebrates the next generation of Food Sport champions, aged 12–17, challenging them with professional-grade culinary competition under the WFC E.A.T.™ judging system.

“WFC Jr. is a vital launchpad for young culinary leaders, and we’re thrilled to expand the field this year to include outstanding programs like SkillsUSA, ProStart, and Paramount Schools of Excellence,” said Mike McCloud, Founder & CEO of World Food Championships. “These students bring energy and creativity to Kitchen Arena, and our goal is to give them a platform to shine on the biggest Food Sport stage.”

Exact details regarding the competition format will be released in the coming weeks, featuring challenges that showcase products from proud partners, Indiana Pork and Zwilling high quality knives. Competitors will be selected based on school and program nominations, culinary club involvement, or past cooking competition achievements.

The 2025 World Food Championships will take place October 16–19 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center with over 400 competition teams battling for their share of $450,000 in prize money and the coveted title of World Champion. The weekend will also feature the 58th annual World Championship Chili Cook-off and unique ticketed attractions, including the Taste of WFC Premium Experience (with optional Sizzle Pass enhancement) and the IGNITE! WFC Music & BBQ Kickoff Party taking place on Friday, October 17.
