Red Gold “Bring Your ‘Wich to the Sand” Winners Announced!

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (September 30, 2016) – The Red Gold “Bring Your ‘Wich to the Sand” Online Recipe Contest brought in some of the tastiest sandwich recipes yet! We thank our friends at Red Gold for partnering with us for this contest. After looking through dozens of entries, the judges tallied up and scored the best sandwich recipes. Although all of the recipes looked delicious, the judges had to come to a tough conclusion between the entries.

Mary Shivers’ “Red Gold Riviera Club” brought her to first place! The winning recipe even featured homemade bread using Red Gold Petite Diced Tomatoes with Green Chilies and Red Gold Tomato Sauce… Wow! Sandwiched between the delicious looking loaves was guacamayo, deli smoked turkey breast, colby jack cheese, and hickory smoked bacon. For her winning dish, Mary scored a registration-paid Golden Ticket slot in the Sandwich Category at the 2016 World Food Championships in Orange Beach, Alabama this November, plus a $500 travel stipend.

Meanwhile, these four entries earned their creators Golden Ticket invitations to compete:
Second Place: “Slow Cooked BBQ Slider with Grilled Pineapple Slaw,” by Stacy Dow.
Third Place: “Delta Melt,” by Darwin Aaron.
Fourth Place: “Overloaded Toasted Sausage Lasagna Sandwich With Zesty Tomato Dipping Sauce,” by Ronna Farley.
Fifth Place: “Spicy TO-MA-TOES Sriracha Pulled Pork Sandwich with Crispy Sweet Potatoes, Spicy Coleslaw & Crunchy Pickled Onions,” by Areli Biggers.
