The World Food Championships (WFC) announced today that PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese will be the title sponsor for the World Side-Dish Championship that will take place on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012 at Bally’s Las Vegas.
The World Food Championships will bring culinary champions from all walks of life into one arena so that they can square off for food supremacy and a prize purse of $300,000. Using a hybrid of sanctioned, celebrity and customized judging processes, The WFC will identify winners in seven key categories of divisional cooking competitions, culminating in a final table face-off with celebrity food experts, including Adam Richman, star of the Travel Channel’s “Adam Richman’s Best Sandwich in America” and “Man v. Food: Nation,” presiding as the chief judge.
"The WFC is excited to announce the addition of PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese as one of our primary sponsors,” commented Richman. “We are thrilled that they will be part of our World Side-Dish Championship and help us deliver a world-class food experience for both consumers and competitors."
“We’re excited to have PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese play a sponsorship role in the World Food Championships,” said Mamie Croon, senior associate business manager of dairy at Kraft Foodservice. “PHILADELPHIA is the number one selling cream cheese in America, preferred for its firm texture, smoothness, spreadability and strong cream cheese flavor. The versatility of the ingredient lends itself to many dishes, so we’re looking forward to some truly inspired competition.”
The 2012 WFC categories will feature classic American cuisine: barbecue, chili, burgers, sandwiches, side-dishes, the World Recipe Championship featuring winners of online recipe contests, and the World Chef Challenge open to some of the best chefs from America’s greatest food cities. Although PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese will not be required during the initial side dish phase, it will be featured in the secondary and final judging process as the WFC crowns the side-dish champion.
"PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese is an iconic brand in the culinary world and we’re excited to have it associated with our event," said Mike McCloud, president of Trybe Targeting, the company that is producing the four-day event. "As the title sponsor for the World Side-Dish Championship, PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese will be awarding $25,000 in total prize money and helping us celebrate side-dish artisans in a very unique way.”
