Gannett and WFC join forces for a food-rich, media-based platform

Gannett, a leading next-generation media company, and World Food Championships, the world’s largest high-stakes, high-reward culinary competition set for Nov. 3-10 in Kissimmee, Fla., have announced plans to bring the content surrounding the 2015 Championships to life as a comprehensive marketing platform for brands and retailers.

“Our relationship with World Food Championships will bring our audience the most compelling content in the food world and allow our advertisers to put their brands in the hands of culinary champions,” said Michael La Kier, Gannett Corporate Lead for Shopper Marketing & Retail Strategy.

This strategic partnership will combine the trusted storytelling and unmatched local-to-national reach of Gannett with the excitement of the only event where the world’s best food athletes compete for culinary glory in nine categories: barbecue, bacon, chili, burger, dessert, recipe, pasta, sandwich and seafood. Category champions then face off at a Final Table, with one contestant taking home the ultimate food fight crown and $100,000.

“There is tremendous up side to being included not only in the year-long qualifying process and the week-long, tournament-style cooking competition of more than 500 chefs but in bringing all that excitement to your local retail stores to increase sales for brands,” La Kier observed. 

Mike McCloud, CEO of World Food Championships, pointed out that together, Gannett and World Food Championships will deliver a comprehensive suite of solutions for brands from pre-event sales and marketing awareness to event coverage to post-event campaigns.
