Throughout the summer of 2013, the World Food Championships and Bull Outdoor Products are hosting six live event burger cookoffs across the United States as qualifying events for the World Food Championships. The Bull Burger Battle – San Diego, which took place this past Saturday at Carddine Home Resort in San Marcos, CA, brought some of the best burger cooks in San Diego together in a showdown for burger supremacy.

The World Burger Championship will feature 50 of the world’s best burger cooks, chefs and restaurants all competing for their share of the competition’s total prize purse of $25,000.  The winner of the World Burger Championship will take home a check for $10,000 and compete against six other category champions at the World Food Championships’ Final Table for a shot at an additional $50,000.

“The opportunity to compete in an event as large as the World Food Championships is a huge accomplishment,” said Mike McCloud, President and CEO of Trybe Targeting, the company producing the World Food Championships. “Dennis and Sherry will now get a chance to represent Bull Outdoor Products and San Diego against more than 400 world-class cooks in Las Vegas."

El Cajon residents, Dennis and Sherry McGrath, aka the Porketeers, dazzled the judges with their mouthwatering Jalapeno Bacon Cheeseburger.

Dennis and Sherry also pilot the Porketeers food truck, “roaming the streets of San Diego and frequently visiting the great local breweries that San Diego has to offer.”

“Winning the ‘Best Burger in San Diego’ validates that we are moving in the right direction with competition food,” said McGrath. “It’s nice to know that our teamwork, dedication to quality food, and our overall love for this game is finally paying off.”

Five more Bull Burger Battles are slated for 2013 in Baton Rouge, Indianapolis, Chicago, Dayton and Oklahoma City.
