San Juan, PR (May 31, 2025) – CGV Creative Group and the Puerto Rico Culinary Events Conglomerate (PRICEC) have elevated Puerto Rico’s culinary industry to the global stage by hosting an official qualifying event for the renowned World Food Championships (WFC). This exciting partnership will provide opportunities for local chefs and cooks to secure their spot among elite culinary talents competing in the biggest Food Sport event in the world this Fall. Guided by a commitment to innovation, excellence, and community, WFC celebrates the artistry and ambition of food sport while creating unforgettable experiences for competitors and fans alike.

The World Food Championships, the premier global culinary competition, welcomes more than 300 teams annually from across the globe to find the best in Food Sport. Competitors face off in multiple categories, ranging from barbecue to dessert, navigating an intense elimination process to claim their place in the Finals. Category champions will then have a chance to compete for the ultimate prize of $150,000 at WFC’s Final Table.

“Food Sport is about more than just competition—it’s a celebration of creativity, skill, and community,” said Mike McCloud, Founder of WFC. “Partnering with elite qualifiers like Miller Lite BBQ Grilling Wars ensures that rising stars in regions like Puerto Rico have the chance to showcase their culinary excellence and compete at the highest level on an international stage.”

Miller Lite BBQ Grilling Wars is the largest smoked meats and grilling event in the Caribbean. The festival, celebrates its fourth edition this June in Puerto Rico, hosting more than 4,000 people, and 25+ teams during a single-day event. Teams will compete in four categories including Beef Brisket, St. Louis Style Ribs, Pork Shoulder, and Chicken Thighs. With a purse of over $10,000 and the opportunity to represent the Island at the WFC, ML BBQ Grilling Wars sets itself as a worldclass competition. The event will take place Saturday, June 21st in the Roberto Clemente Coliseum’s grounds.

As an official WFC Qualifying Event, Miller Lite BBQ Grilling Wars will award one Golden Ticket, granting winners eligibility to compete in the Barbecue category at this year’s international culinary tournament.

The 2024 WFC categories included Bacon, Barbecue, Burger, Chef, Dessert, Live Fire, Noodle, Rice, Sandwich, Seafood, Soup, and Vegetarian. The Golden Ticket recipient from Puerto Rico will have the chance to compete in Kitchen Arena, navigating timed challenges that test their preparation, speed, creativity, and flavor execution before a panel of E.A.T.™ certified judges.
