Indiana Beef Council Takes the Spotlight at World Food Championships’ Last Chance Qualifier

Indianapolis, IN – (September 12, 2024) – The World Food Championships (WFC), the world’s largest Food Sport competition spotlighting everyday cooking categories, is proud to announce an exciting new partnership with the Indiana Beef Council. This partnership will take center stage at the highly anticipated WFC Last Chance Qualifier, set to take place on Friday, November 8, at the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion located at the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center in Indianapolis.

This year's Last Chance Qualifier will feature Indiana Beef as the required ingredient, challenging competitors to showcase their culinary skills by crafting their best beef dishes utilizing premium products sourced from Indiana’s own cattle farms. Each participant will be judged using WFC’s proprietary E.A.T.™ methodology, with each entry being scored on three key evaluation criteria: Execution, Appearance, and Taste. The dishes to receive the highest scores will earn a spot to compete in the opening rounds held Saturday and Sunday where open spaces and cancellations require competitor additions, they will go head-to-head against the world’s best cooks for a chance to earn a share of WFC’s $450,000 prize purse. The application for consideration is now available and can be found online.

Since its inception, the Indiana Beef Council has been a staunch advocate for the state’s beef industry. Committed to promoting the value of beef in a balanced diet, the Indiana Beef Council supports local farmers who contribute to the state’s thriving agriculture sector. Indiana is home to over 800,000 head of cattle, and the beef industry plays a vital role in the state’s economy, with Indiana exporting over $63 million of beef annually (USDA).

“We are thrilled to partner with the Indiana Beef Council for this year’s Last Chance Qualifier,” said Mike McCloud, Founder of World Food Championships. “Beef is a staple in American cuisine, and we are excited to see how competitors will innovate and elevate their dishes using high-quality Indiana Beef. This partnership is a fantastic way to highlight the rich agricultural heritage of Indiana while showcasing the incredible talent of our prospective Food Champs.”

Since its debut in 2012, WFC has garnered a global following, providing unique culinary experiences at live events and through numerous television appearances. The WFC platform has revolutionized competitive cooking, known as “Food Sport,” by offering a level playing field, a fair judging system, and innovative culinary programming. Over the years, WFC has facilitated the creation of more than 10,000 new dishes and has partnered with local non-profits, charities, and food banks across the U.S. The 2024 World Food Championships will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana, from November 8-12, with qualifying events taking place throughout the year. Tickets to the 2024 World Food Championships can be purchased via the Indiana State Fair website.
