World Food Championships Bolsters International Team with Addition of John McFadden

Indianapolis, IN – [August 29, 2024] – The World Food Championships (WFC), the premier global food sport competition, is proud to announce the appointment of John McFadden as the WFC International Ambassador for the 2024 competition season. McFadden, a celebrated Australian chef with over 30 years of experience in the culinary industry, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new role, which will see him play a pivotal part in supporting and guiding international competitors as they prepare for the WFC. This appointment returns McFadden to WFC where he is a two-time World Seafood Champion and took home the top prize as World Food Champion for the 2022 competition.

As the WFC International Ambassador, McFadden's responsibilities will include representing WFC internationally as well as fostering relationships with competitors and culinary professionals worldwide.  He will also be tasked with assisting in the development of international tools to assist the wide variety of global competitors in their preparation for the annual event. McFadden will work closely with the WFC team to create a comprehensive guide aimed at helping international competitors navigate the event's unique challenges with valuable insights and tips.

"We are thrilled to welcome John McFadden as the WFC International Ambassador," said Mike Eaton, CEO of World Food Championships. "John's unparalleled experience and dedication to the culinary arts, paired with his tremendous success in our Kitchen Arena, make him the perfect fit for this role. His guidance and support will be invaluable to our international competitors as they prepare for the world’s most prestigious food competition."

Born and trained in Australia, John McFadden began his culinary journey at the age of 12 and has since established himself as one of the hospitality industry's most respected figures. Over the years, McFadden has held positions at some of the world's most prestigious restaurants and hotels, earning accolades for his attention to detail and leadership. He has served as the National Chairman of Judges for Chef of the Year at Foodservice Australia and played a key role in selecting the Australian Culinary team for the Bocuse d'Or competition.

In recent years, McFadden has achieved remarkable success at the World Food Championships, winning the World Seafood Championship in Australia and going on to claim the overall World Food Championship title on multiple occasions. His expertise and passion for the culinary arts have made him a sought-after mentor, speaker, and ambassador in the industry.

Currently, McFadden serves as the Managing Director for Squizify, a digital food safety and compliance platform, and is the Brand Ambassador for Yumbah Aquaculture, where he advocates for responsible and sustainable aquaculture practices.

"I am honored to take on the role of WFC International Ambassador," said John McFadden. "The World Food Championships has provided me with incredible opportunities, and I look forward to giving back by helping other chefs from around the globe prepare for this extraordinary event."

Since its debut in 2012, WFC has gained an immense global following, offering a one-of-a-kind culinary experience at live events and through numerous television appearances. The WFC platform has redefined competitive cooking, known as “Food Sport,” by providing a level playing field, a fair judging system, and innovative culinary programming. Over the years, WFC has played a pivotal role in the creation of more than 10,000 new dishes and has supported communities through partnerships with local non-profits, charities, and food banks across the U.S. The 2024 World Food Championships will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana, from November 8-12, with qualifying events taking place throughout the year.
