World Food Championships Bolsters International Team with Addition of John McFadden
Indianapolis, IN – [August 29, 2024] – The World Food Championships (WFC), the premier global food sport competition, is proud to announce the appointment of John McFadden as the WFC International Ambassador for the 2024 competition season. McFadden, a celebrated Australian chef with over 30 years of experience in the culinary industry, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new role, which will see him play a pivotal part in supporting and guiding international competitors as they prepare for the WFC. This appointment returns McFadden to WFC where he is a two-time World Seafood Champion and took home the top prize as World Food Champion for the 2022 competition.
As the WFC International Ambassador, McFadden's responsibilities will include representing WFC internationally as well as fostering relationships with competitors and culinary professionals worldwide. He will also be tasked with assisting in the development of international tools to assist the wide variety of global competitors in their preparation for the annual event. McFadden will work closely with the WFC team to create a comprehensive guide aimed at helping international competitors navigate the event's unique challenges with valuable insights and tips.

Born and trained in Australia, John McFadden began his culinary journey at the age of 12 and has since established himself as one of the hospitality industry's most respected figures. Over the years, McFadden has held positions at some of the world's most prestigious restaurants and hotels, earning accolades for his attention to detail and leadership. He has served as the National Chairman of Judges for Chef of the Year at Foodservice Australia and played a key role in selecting the Australian Culinary team for the Bocuse d'Or competition.
In recent years, McFadden has achieved remarkable success at the World Food Championships, winning the World Seafood Championship in Australia and going on to claim the overall World Food Championship title on multiple occasions. His expertise and passion for the culinary arts have made him a sought-after mentor, speaker, and ambassador in the industry.
Currently, McFadden serves as the Managing Director for Squizify, a digital food safety and compliance platform, and is the Brand Ambassador for Yumbah Aquaculture, where he advocates for responsible and sustainable aquaculture practices.
