Food Sports’ Favorite Tomatoes Return For Another Golden Year

Veteran World Food Championship (WFC) sponsor, Red Gold Tomatoes, is officially on board for another season of Food Sport in more ways than one. After the Main Event’s extraordinary inaugural year in Dallas, WFC and Red Gold are planning on taking the partnership to the next level. Along with supplying quality products for The Final Table: Indy, WFC’s 2019 Supplier of the Year will also be sponsoring a category at the 9th Annual Ultimate Food Fight this November.

As a previous sponsor of both the Sandwich and the Bacon Categories, the team at Red Gold Tomatoes has always made it interesting for competitors by creatively integrating their products into the competition. In 2020, Red Gold Tomatoes will be sponsoring a whole new category – Recipe.

“Red Gold constantly strives to produce the freshest, best tasting tomato products in the world,” says, Becca Yeagy Red Gold Sales Development and Marketing Manager for Red Gold. “In our mission to be the best, we truly enjoy supporting competitors to develop their best. Switching to the new Recipe Category gives us a chance to strengthen ties to creative recipe development using our tomato products in new and interesting ways.”

Additionally, the Indiana-based tomato brand will serve as a partner for the 8th Annual Final Table Challenge, set to be held in Indianapolis, August 8-9. At the Final Table, 2019’s ten Category Champions will battle it out for the ultimate World Food Champion title and $100,000 grand prize. In a series of three rounds, the competitor field will be narrowed down from ten to five, and in the final round, only three.

During the first challenge, the ten contestants will be tasked with making a Pork and Parisian Gnocchi dish using Red Gold Tomatoes as a required ingredient. The cooks will have an hour and a half to create their version of this dish to be judged by a highly qualified panel of Indy chefs, food writers and food purveyors.

“We know that we can always count on Red Gold when it comes to being a loyal supporter of Food Sport,” said Mike McCloud, President and CEO of WFC. “This brand has been one of the most enthusiastic sponsors at our event every year and have created a great relationship with our competitors.”

On August 1st, WFC will be announcing the official Tournament Chart that reveals each category’s Structure Build and Infusion challenges. Competitors will then have at least two full months of practice before the 9th Annual Main Event in Dallas, which is scheduled to be held Nov. 6-10. Until then, stay up-to-date on all culinary competition news, by following the World Food Championships on Twitter (@WorldFoodChamp), Facebook and Instagram (@WorldFoodChampionships).
