COMPETITION: World Open Chili Championship
I primarily am a self taught Chef cooking over 21 years. I have attended cooking classes in the CIA in Napa CA and in Ramekins in Sonoma CA to enhance my skills. I started cooking in competitions and have developed cooking under pressure conditions in competitions. The Great Petaluma Chili Cook Off in1998 (Petaluma CA) was my first chili competition. We won that competition and have won over 35+ awards in the competition to date and helped raise over 150,000K for the Petaluma Children's Cinnabar Theater. I am a 4 time Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI) California State Champion 2003, 2006, 2007 and 2014. I have qualified to cook in the CASI International Chili Championship in Terlingua Texas and completed 5 times for the World Championship. In 2014 I competed in the Healdsburg California Executive Winery Chef Chili Cook off representing Thumbprint Winery and won 2 of the six categories. In 2015 we competed again in Healdsburg and Won 4 of the 6 chili categories. It was a great honor to win the Hormel 125 Anniversary Chili Nation Challenge which qualifying me to go to the WFC in Orange Beach. I competed in the 2015 WFC and in the 2016 WFC competition, took first place in Structured Finals and made it to the top 10 finalist. Winning a World Championship is #1 on my bucket list.
