QUALIFYING EVENT: Cattlemen's BBQ Competition
Greetings, my name is Chef Kwivan Miller and I represent the islands of the Bahamas. My love for culinary arts started at a very young age while observing my parents preparing meals. This passion intensified at the age of fifteen (15) years old when I studied food and nutrition at the Saint Augustine’s High School, Nassau Bahamas. Upon completion of high school, I enrolled at the College of the Bahamas where I graduated with an Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts. As a course requirement, I completed a three month internship at the Atlantis Resort and Casino on Paradise Island. There I rotated in all food and beverage departments. In September 2003, I enrolled at the Johnson and Wales University, Providence Rhode Island where I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts. Upon completion of my degree, I did a one month internship in Vitznau, Switzerland.
I have worked in the culinary industry for eleven (11) years. My work experience includes the Atlantis Resort and Casino, The Lyford Cay Club, and the Albany Resort, Nassau Bahamas where I am currently employed. Although I worked in many areas of the culinary field including butchery, garde manger, fine dining, bistro, carving and sushi, however, one of my favorite hobbies and passions is grilling. I enjoy experimenting with food and hosting socials in my backyard with close family and friends.
I am currently the Cattleman’s BBQ Grand Champion of Nassau Bahamas and also the 2013 Reserve Grand Champion for the Cattleman’s Ancillary BBQ competition in San Juan Puerto Rico.
