From Soldier to Chef! Chef John Reason is avid outdoorsman, commercial fisherman and chef in Louisiana. Chef served 16 years active duty Army and medically retired due to injuries sustained during combat. Chef decided to finish what he started while in the military and graduated from Louisiana Culinary Institute out of Baton Rouge Louisiana. Upon graduation Chef John has been nominated for the Country Roads Magazine Small Town Chefs Award, nominated and selected as 2020 Top 25 Best Chefs of Louisiana, worked as a Lead Grill for the Masters at Calamity Janes, and is now the Executive Chef/Consultant Chef for Louisiana Direct Seafood Shop where he demonstrates cooking techniques and teaches about all types of Louisiana Seafood. Chef has a passion for working with food and infusing Asian and Cajun dishes together. Chef John Reason also loves creating dishes and working with invasive species such as the wild hog, and Asian Carp. He continues to progress and always strives to create friendship with food.
