At age 5 my parents frequently found me standing on a chair over the sink peeling carrots at 2 a.m. At age 10 I was known to walk the streets in my hometown, peddling angel food and strawberry ice cream roll-up cakes to various restaurants. At this point, my grandmother started calling me Julia, and this was the start of my cooking career. I went on to cook part-time throughout college for various restaurants, venues, and caterers. After graduating college and working at various hotels throughout Philadelphia, my mother and I opened an up-scale eclectic comfort food restaurant. We sold the restaurant in 2006 in hopes of getting our lives back. In 2007 I was a personal chef/cook to a young .com entrepreneur. I eventually landed in Napa Valley, CA. I worked at various resorts as a Food & Beverage Director for many years until opening my store, 428 kitchen, located in Sonoma, CA. 428 kitchen sells refurbished/previously owned kitchen items from whisks to slicers. If you are not sure where to find a kitchen item, you will likely find it a 428 kitchen. The store also sells fresh upscale prepared food and a large selection of frozen soup. Each week I create a menu, prepare, package, and sell my food. The menu is small but mighty for one person. Triple Chocolate Walnut Cookies are made fresh every morning along with mini loaf cakes. These items can be found on the counter daily. Pre-Orders and walk-ins are welcome, but food sells out quickly and pre-orders are a guarantee. My store is almost 4 years old and has been a joy since its inception. I was introduced to food competitions in 2020 as part of a team. In 2022 I will be competing as 428 kitchen and my customers love it! They relish the idea of my food in a competition, especially my soup. I just hope to always bring back favorable results because they will all be asking.
