Julio Howard is one of the head cook of several of the cooking teams that the company Pitmaker (of which he is part owner, and Plant Manager) competes with. These teams include the names "Pitmaker - Smoke Your Target", and the "Cooked on a Pitmaker" cooking team name, among others. Although Julio is a great all around BBQ Cook, he is a renowned brisket master, winning grand champion brisket and top finishes in multiple BBQ Cook-offs every year, including Grand Champion Brisket 4 out of the last 6 years at the Humble Rodeo BBQ Cook-off (over 140 teams every year), earning him the nickname "Don Brisket".
Julio has participated in the largest BBQ Cook-offs in the world, including: The American Royal, Memphis in May, Jack Daniels World Championship BBQ Cook-off, and the Houston Rodeo World Championship BBQ Cook-off, having extensive experience with competing in 4 of the main sanctioning bodies in competitive BBQ, including the Kansas City BBQ Society, Memphis BBQ Network, International BBQ Cookers Association, and the Texas Gulf Coast BBQ Cookers Association.
