She is back to play her hand at winning! She returns as a more experienced Chef and is ready for some redemption! She offers the best of two worlds as a long time excellent home cook, who after retiring from the Space Shuttle Program returned to school, earning a Culinary Arts Certification. This career hat change came after working over 37 years for companies such as AT&T, varies insurance companies, (HL&P) The Light Company, the Galveston Chamber of Commerce, Strand Historic District Association, The Boeing Company and United Space Alliance. It's her encore career and she living her dream! Passion has always driven her creative cooking! She cooks a lot of FUSION style dishes especially Spanish and Asian Cuisines. She enjoys both the cooking aspect and the culinary flair in fine dining, but relies on with a huge repertory of simple down to earth home-style cooked dishes that she learned from Mom and Grandmothers!
She is an active member of the Bailliage de Galveston CONFRERIE DE-LA-CHAINE DES ROTISSEURS, the world's oldest Gastronome Society and belongs to the International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP) as well as on call for Mercy Chefs. She enjoys food photography and real food styling. She has been competing in recipe contests for several years where she has won many, placed in a lot and expanded her circle of foodie friends. She is known for her leadership and fundraising abilities. She is a Steele Magnolia and a true Southern Belle with a lot of business competencies and can do attitude!
Nancy's professional culinary career began in 2011 at Moody Garden Hotel Convention Center & SPA under the Award Winning Executive Chef Urs Schmid. During her internship she worked high volume for Banquet and Events on the Garde Manger team where she garnered unbelievable kitchen experience and knowledge; and then she moved to the fine dining restaurant brigade duties for the highly rated 4-diamond restaurant Shearn’s Prime Steaks and Seafood.
Her future plans in the industry includes a possible new restaurant in the Greater Houston-Galveston area, her own specialty food line called Manlove Foods, her first cookbook, performing some personal chef duties and catering, professional blogging, more professional competitive cooking and teaching her granddaughters how to cook to ensure that there are NO MORE "Cooking Generation Gaps" in this family! Even though she also qualified to compete in the pasta, dessert, recipe, and seafood categories she chose the SANDWICH Category for 2014. She is proud to be on the Sandwich America team this year and has always wanted to showcase her artisan sandwiches which she has made for many diners. She wants to let the judges and other competitors know to GET READY to battle to the last round and plate, because she's back with her high energy, the IT Factor and know that Manlove Foods are coming to 36.1215° N, 115.1739° W and you!
