COMPETITION: World Seafood Championship
Delaniah Bringle was not content with being the wife of a BBQ legend or being the co-owner of one of the country’s premier BBQ spots, Peg Leg Porker. She wanted something more. So in 2020, after watching her husband compete in Memphis in May for over 29 years, she formed her own team, I only Smoke When I drink. The all-girl team got off to a rocky start, but within a year, they started taking home trophies and really hitting their stride. In 2023, she bested her husband’s team at SmokeSlam in Memphis, TN and then did a repeat in 2024 taking home top 10 finishes both years in the whole hog category. They also won several other top ten placements in the ancillary competitions. In 2024 she and her team took top honors for seafood at SmokeSlam, earning them a golden ticket to this years’ World Food Championships.
