HEAD COOK: Holly Jubera
COMPETITION: World Vegetarian Championship
A native of Springfield, MO, I discovered my love of cooking while working at a fast-food Chinese restaurant in high school. My husband and I currently reside in Oxford, MS. I have no professional culinary training, but have "mad skillz" and rely on tasting as I go and watching people compete on the Food Network. Picture the scene from "Julie & Julia" when Julia Child is in the kitchen banging her spoons on the pots while spinning around and throwing salt over her shoulder -- that's me in a nutshell! My family, friends, and coworkers are great Guinea pigs and are always willing to try and critique what I've created. New to the world of competitive cooking, I started competing with my husband in SCA and MiniPot Mafia events in 2018 as a way to reconnect with my love of cooking. These competitions reminded me just how much I like to compete and have really helped give me that extra burst of energy and desire needed to win. Oh, and apparently I like to add cheese to any dish possible. My personal motto is: "This could use more cheese!"
