I Have been cooking since I was about 5 and I knew I wanted to be in the food service business since about 12. I started working as a dishwasher when I was 13. The chef I worked for was a Culinary Institute of America graduate and mentored me while I worked there encouraging me to go to CIA. I graduated from CIA in 1988 and then continued my studies at Florida International's University in Miami where I received a Bachelors Degree in Hotel and restaurant management.
I have worked pretty much every position in the kitchen and have a strong pastry chef background.
I have been self employed at my BBQ company in NJ called DRJ Catering for the past 26 years.
Additionally I am the New Jersey State Lead for www.operationbbqrelief.org
I am married to my awesome wife of 26 years and we have 2 incredible children one of which is currently enrolled as a Junior in College studying Environmental Sciences and Marine Biology and our other daughter is a sophomore in High school where she is one of the stars of her Volleyball team both for the school and at a national club level.
