HEAD COOK: Janine Washle

COMPETITION: World Burger Championship

ACHIEVEMENTS/CONTRIBUTIONS Recent Achievement: Bakers vs Fakers, winner, season 2, episode 7. Entrepreneurial Achievement: Created a grilling product that is trademarked. CloverFields Grilling/Smoking sticks are sorghum-infused sticks that enhance grilling or smoking endeavors without the hassle of smoking chips, and can be used several times. Television Contributions: Contribute monthly on local Fox affiliate, WDRB In The Morning, with food-related subject matter that can be viewed on YouTube, Janine Washle. Recipe Contributions: Currently contribute recipes to Kentucky Monthly magazine. Additionally, my recipes have been used by Lawry's Seasoned Salt, Hidden Valley, Martha White among others. I was the Kentucky representative for the National Chicken Cooking Contest in 2007 and was followed by Food Network at that event. CULINARY TRAINING I have no formal culinary training. I purchased culinary textbooks and worked my way through them. I research, then prepare traditional recipes then rework them to fit today’s kitchen, or put my own creative spin on them. I also develop my own recipes based on my German roots, my research of other rural parts of the world, and where I live today. RELEVANT EXPERIENCE Recipe contests and cook-offs have helped me hone my skills in ingredient/seasoning combinations, creative use of ingredients, and working within a strict timeframe. Creative, and critical thinking helps create an edge to set me apart from other contestants. Recipe contributions to media have enabled me to create an audience and platform for my style of cooking, and bak- ing. Research and development of recipes in my in-home commercial kitchen have enabled me to hone my style, and pass my knowledge to others.
