COMPETITION: Smithfield Smokin' Hot Challenge
I am an RN who loves to cook just about anything. My grandmother and my aunt were both good cooks and I learned from both of them growing up. I really began cooking and writing my own recipes when I became diagnosed with colon cancer at the age of 32 and was unable to work much while undergoing chemotherapy and radiation. That was my stress relief and a way to not think about what was going on just about what I was cooking that day. My first love has always been desserts. I have a horrible sweet tooth! When we do BBQ competitions, I always look for the ones that have dessert. I have gotten two 180's in dessert with one of my cheesecakes. In 2019 I entered the Taste of America Challenge with my Peanut Butter Banana Cheesecake and won a golden ticket to WFC. Again this year I entered the Taste of America Challenge and was able to get another golden ticket for 2020. My sous chef and I are pumped and ready to come up with a creation that will land us into the top 10 this year we hope!!
