QUALIFYING EVENT: World Recipe Championship

As a child, I lived on a beautiful farm in northern Iowa. My mother was a wonderful cook. She prepared all our meals with fresh produce from our huge garden, as well as, poultry, beef and pork raised on our farm. From a very young age, I found that I was very interested in cooking and loved helping my mother in the kitchen. When I came home for the summer after my junior year in college, I sat down at the table and asked my mother, “What are we having for dinner?” She replied, “I don’t know, what are YOU fixing for dinner?” For that entire summer I did the planning, shopping and preparation of all the meals for my family with her guidance. I look back now on that summer and realize what a wonderful gift she gave me! I felt as though I had attended my own private culinary school. I have been cooking and baking ever since...and loving it! My passion is to entertain, from intimate dinner parties to large receptions in my home. My favorite past-time is reading cookbooks, creating new recipes and entering cooking contests.
