Chef Teena, Principal Instructor and Co-founder of CURRYSUTRA, has more than 25 years of experience in the Food Service Industry. She began her culinary journey at her family owned and operated Steakhouse, American roadside, and Indian restaurants. Her mother and father truly are her inspiration.
Teena offered professional culinary instruction at The Lake Harriet Community Education Adult School, Whole Foods Market, and to private individuals in Minneapolis, MN. Later, she continued teaching Indian vegetarian & vegan cuisine in the San Francisco Bay Area, at
Stanford University, Whole Foods Salud Cooking & Lifestyles School in San Mateo, for more than 5 years, and for the past 4 years has taught cooking classes at the San Carlos Adult Community Center.
Authentic Indian cuisine is the foundation for Teena's unique culinary style. Her love affair of teaching food has permeated in a subsequent focus in other cuisines such as Asian, Mediterranean, and South American foods while keeping the core of vegetarian and vegan menus & recipes.
Her recipes are based on an old-world foundation & traditional Indian culinary style of cooking infused with a modern, eclectic, health conscious focus on clean, honest, nutrient-rich, sustainable, farm to table, healthy ingredients - without the sacrifice of boisterous flavor.
Teena's goal and vision are simple; to provide an awareness of plant based foods and the medicinal benefits of Indian spices with recipes that are packed with robust mouth-watering flavors. Wholesome goodness is eating and feeling well - the core values of food! It’s a mind, body, and soul connection.
