HEAD COOK: Skipper's Smokehouse
COMPETITION: World Sandwich Championship
After spending many years serving our country in the Air Force, Tom White, owner of Skipper's Smokehouse in Tampa, traded his AC-130s for blackened grouper reubens and other Cajun and Florribean fare. The internationally renown restaurant and live music venue nestled among the olden oak tree hammocks continues to garner attention from many. Even the Travel Channel's own, Adam Richman, has stopped by the Florida "cracker" style hangout a couple of times to try his fork at menu items such as the smoked gator ribs and blackened grouper reuben. Since its inception, the eatery has blended the concepts of kitchen and gallery of all things ecclectic. One may enhance their experience by ordering a heaping helping of their famous Swamp Juice, adozen fresh shucked oysters and kicking back on the tiki deck under the oaks grooving to killer local and national live music acts six nights a week.
