COMPETITOR

Lindsay Porter

COMPETITION: World Dessert Championship

Born and Raised in St Albert, Executive Chef Lindsay Porter’s focus has always been on the culinary world, even as a child. This passion for the culinary arts reflects through her re-designed menu at El Cortez Mexican Kitchen + Tequila Bar “From the colours, to the flavors, to the textures, this menu really is my form of expression. I wanted to have fun with it, so I took several traditional recipes, and added my personality to them.” Formerly of 4th and Vine and Mercer’s Catering, and bronze medalist at the prestigious Gold Medal Plates Edmonton in 2014, Chef Porter graduated in 2006 after completing a two-year, fulltime culinary course. While at school, she apprenticed under chef Willie White at the River House Grill where she learned the basic fundamentals of restaurant fine dining. After graduating, she travelled to Europe for two months and explored the culinary world of Italy, Switzerland, France, Greece, Germany and the Netherlands. Once home, she joined Fantasyland Hotel as a sous chef for 4 years before becoming the executive chef at 4th and Vine; she began taking part in various competitions, such as the Chaine des Rotisseurs Junior Commis Competition, placing first in the regionals twice and travelling to Vancouver and Montreal for nationals. Porter has also competed in the CCFCC Junior Chef Challenge and CCFCC National Challenge. Volunteering with many local charities such as Wellspring, and Mount Royal cookoff Chef Porter loves to get involved in local organizations to support the local community. Chef has worked and consulted as Executive Chef at multiple Edmonton restaurants, owned an English inspired restaurant, worked at a michelin star restaurant in Norway and has competed on numerous television competitions such as Top Chef Canada, Beat Bobby Flay, Guys Grocery Games, Firemasters and Iron Chef Canada.
