COMPETITION: World Invitational Steak Championship
I grew up in East Texas around a family full of wonderful cooks. My family always enjoyed and supported my cooking. I started competing in a few BBQ Cookoffs about 14 years ago, mainly local competitions and some IBCA sanctioned events. This is my 4th year competing in the Steak Cookoff Association (SCA). My first competition was March, 2016 at the 903 Brewers in Sherman Texas, I won my first steak competition that day and I have been hooked ever since, traveling around Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana with my little red Weber and GrillGrates, competing in SCA events. I'm by no means a professional chef, I just enjoy cooking. My first time to cook at the World Food Championship was November of 2016 and I tied 13th over all. In 2018 at the WFC in Alabama I received a 4th place call in the Culver Duck ancillary category, my 2nd time to cook duck ever. I was happy with the call. Cooking at the WFC is a challenge and I am honored to have the amazing Kathy Pullin with Pullin Premium BBQ as part of the team again in 2019. 2018 was her first time to attend the WFC but it wasn't her first rodeo in competition cooking. She has competed on Guys Grocery Games, and the pilot episode of BBQ Rig Race were she made it to the final two, numerous morning shows and has successfully competed against some of the best BBQer around. She is an excellent cook and we are looking forward to the 2019 WFC. The Hearts of Texas are once again headed to the worlds largest food competition to be held in our home state, TEXAS!!!
