Chef Carol Koty grew up and lives in Stratford, Connecticut. She has been passionate about cooking and competing all of her life. After graduating from Lincoln Culinary Institute in 2009, she dove into the world of upscale wedding catering. It was there that she developed her signature culinary style of making fabulously elevated American comfort food classics with a seafood focus and an innovative international flair.
A seasoned culinary competitor, Chef Carol Koty has been featured on Food Network's Guy's Grocery Games and participated in the 2013 World Food Championships - Bacon and 2014 World Food Championships - Burger, where her signature Korean Bulgogi Burger ranked 18th. In 2016, she competed in the World Food Championships - Seafood, where her signature Grilled Lobster Napoleon came in 11th place. Chef Carol Koty was also thrilled to be featured as a 2016 World Food Championship Showcase Champ. In 2017, Chef Carol Koty returned to the World Food Championships to compete in the Recipe category. She was also honored to be again featured as a Showcase Chef in the VIP tent. In 2018, Chef Carol was tremendously honored to place in second at the World Seafood Championships after her signature dish received a perfect score. 2019 also brought Chef Carol Koty success when she again finished in second place at the World Seafood Championships.
Growing up in New England, Chef Carol Koty is passionate about all things aquatic and nautical. While attending college for a career in marine chemistry, she decided to enter a pie baking competition at a local fair. Knowing that the kitchen brought her more passion and happiness than any other endeavors ever did, she vowed that if the pie placed at the competition, she would quit her job and go to culinary school. When Chef Carol Koty won the blue ribbon, she did just that!
Now Chef Carol Koty will be competing in the 2020 World Seafood Championship, where she is excited to bring her New England perspective to Texas. Between her scientific aquatic background, a lifetime growing up on the New England coastline, and a passion for all things mermaid and pirates, this Purple Princess is ready to take on the 2020 World Seafood Championships!
