Spent a lot of time hanging out with my mom in the kitchen when I was young. She is an ok cook/baker (sorry mom!) who was raised by an amazing one- my grandmother's ability passed straight to me. So really I'm a mishmash of education, I am a self/family/cookbook/television taught baker...really fell in love with it during college. Started baking 4-5 days a week after I graduated nursing school. It really worked out well that I love to bake because I work in a super high stress environment and a fabulous dessert can brighten anyone's day. I bring a baked good to work every shift that I do. Currently I work as a certified pediatric nurse practitioner in the Heart Center of Children's Health at Children's Medical Center Dallas. I love to work on recipes to the find my idea of perfection (ie the perfect chocolate chip cookie, lemon bar, etc.), so it helps to have my work audience to test things out on.
