I get antsy if I stay in one place too long. I’ve been to more countries than I can count. I’ve lived in more places than I have fingers and toes. So I guess it was inevitable that I move around the WFC too. And when I saw that the theme for the RECIPE category this year was fresh, I was sold! Oh, don’t worry. I haven’t completely abandoned my favorite pork product. You’ll still find BACON all over my WFC dishes. But I've been so inspired this year by the bounty of my own backyard garden that this change seems very natural. And the universe seems to agree. This summer alone I won first place with super fresh ingredients at both The Gilroy Garlic Festival Cook-Off as well as The California Strawberry Festival Berry Blast Off. So I’m taking the year off from The BACON category and joining the gang over at RECIPE! But don’t worry Ricardo, Tamie, Heather & Doug. I won’t be gone forever. (And my mom says I can still come over and hang out)!
