COMPETITION: World Burger Championship
QUALIFYING EVENT: Just a Pinch - Burger
Hi, my name's Helene, and I'm a 46 year old Home-cook, wife and mother of 3 girls. I was born and raised in Central New Jersey, but I live with my family in rural Magnolia Texas.
My heritage is Italian, so my cooking journey began when I was very little, watching my mother make Sunday Gravy. As an adult, I have carried on that tradition, and have considered teaching my own daughters to cook to be one of my biggest pleasures in life.
Living in Texas has posed a unique challenge in trying to continue those traditions. The ingredients that are so readily available in New Jersey are sometimes hard to find here, as well as the common foods found in bakeries, and restaurants. We could no longer easily find bagels, chewy breads, or pretzels. We no longer lived a short drive from good pizza, or Italian dishes, or pastries. We decided if we wanted to eat those foods we'd have to learn to make them ourselves!
I turned to the internet to learn how to cook these dishes, and found Just a Pinch recipe club. There I found thousands of recipes ,but also a network of home-cooks that were there to lend guidance, and encouragement to me through every step of my journey.
I have never competed in a cooking competition before, but I am excited for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to compete in The World Food Championships! I am honored to be invited, and I look forward to representing my Just a Pinch Family in The Burger Championships!
