QUALIFYING EVENT: 2012 World Food Championships
Mike Callaghan from the Black Pig BBQ team is from London Ontario Canada. Mike has been on the food competition circuit since 2008 and has received over 50 awards including numerous accolades from major events such as the Jack Daniels World Championship Invitational Barbecue, Memphis in May World Championship Cooking Contest and of course the inaugural World Food Championship where he and his team placed 6th at the final table.
In Canada, the team has won the Canadian Whole Hog Champion along with the Canadian Southern BBQ championship. In addition Mike is the three time National Canadian Chili Champion. The team excels at Barbecue, Chili and five star dinning and is a world champion in steak receiving a perfect score of 180 in Cook’s choice at the Jack. Can this guy cook…..
Mike is joined on the Black Pig team with his spouse Barb and his daughter Samantha. His colleague Shawn Danko and his wife Lana owners of the Kooky Canuck, in Memphis TN, will be returning this year at the WFC. The team is joined by our two newest competitors Sean and Tabitha from Toronto Ontario.
While the team has received numerous competitive awards they also have time for charity work. For the last three years Mike has donated an exclusive five star dinner for ten, auctioned off by “Comic Vision - London” a Foundation Fighting Blindness.
Mike and the Team wish his fellow competitors, the sponsors and of course the organizers at the WFC the best of luck for another successful year.
