The Ultimate Food Fight Dishes Out Flavorful Entertainment

The World Food Championships (WFC) will not only have a talented field of over 1,500 contestants competing for the $350,000 prize purse but will also have live music from across the nation to enhance the experience for food fans at its Main Event, which is set for Oct. 17-20 in Dallas, Texas.

For the event’s eighth season, it is amping up its entertainment schedule with the addition of 10 musical acts. These talented singers and bands will be entertaining the thousands of expected foodies to be in attendance at WFC’s event site, Reunion Tower Lawn.

Check out this year’s WFC musical lineup:

Tyler Hook - This Dallas native is a singer/songwriter who considers himself a worship leader of his genre of music which he calls “good feels.”

The Smoky Nights - The Smoky Nights leading members are Lily and Anthony Nguyen. Originally from Wisconsin, this duo has been performing music together for over five years! The four man band creates a smooth, yet very Tennessee style sound.

Kirk Thurmond -Kirk is from Dallas, Texas, and received his percussion performance degree at age 19. Kirk used a series of coffee shops, bars, and college cafeterias to hone in his writing into what it is now; his debut projects Born In The City and Only Love marked the beginning of his continuous pursuit for music that is real and timeless. He has opened for artists such as Lauryn Hill, Marc Broussard, Cory Henry & the Funk Apostles, and The Suffers. He has also been nominated for Best Funk/Soul Act for multiple years in Dallas Observer Music Awards.

Griffin Holtby - Griffin is from San Miguel De Allende, Mexico, and is a Texas Rocker who packs a big punch. His music has been described as Blues Influenced Power Rock, and sometimes Outlaw Blues. Connecting through his story lines, inspired by art and real life, he hopes to spread peace and let his music be an agent of change. Griffin’ goal is to make people feel hope. He wants them to know that they are not alone.

Maya Piata - Maya is from Dallas, Texas and considers her genre folk. She is a young singer/songwriter who uses her eclectic background to mold her own, unique style by pulling inspiration from her hometown, New Orleans, alongside the rich culture of her New Zealand roots.

Peyton Stilling - Peyton has a story to tell--and the powerful voice to tell it. The 19-year-old singer-songwriter from Plano, Texas was an avid poet before she ever strummed a chord, but her life changed forever the moment she stepped on stage at the age of 15.

Remy Riley - Remy loves to make people smile. What a better way to do that than get on the stage and play some tunes! She considers herself a singer/piano/songwriter and her genre is considered indie pop. She was named the Best New Act at Dallas Observer’s Music Awards in 2018.

BJ Sticker - They grew up in Wisconsin. Their genre is a big & inviting folk rock-style acoustic sound, the full band brings warm accompaniment on electric guitar & saxophone with playful melodies influenced by the style of Dave Matthews, Neil Young and Amos Lee that gives their music a hint of blues and soul.

Rolling Smoke - Two southern-soul inspired Americana/Country artists Hound Brown and Kevin Sport have joined together to buck traditional Nashville, daring someone to put out their fire. With genuine, heartfelt conviction, the music of Rolling Smoke Nation an authentic way of life taking root across the country. Bearing a bonafide, lived-in character, the tunes pay tribute to family, faith and friends as well as foot-stomping, tailgate–friendly selections.

Frankie Leonie - The Texas singer-songwriter proudly carries the label of country artist, yet, she’s inspired by and often mixing in folk, blues and any number of influences. She reveres country acts from decades gone by and masterfully paints pictures of heartbreak and hardscrabble lives. When you put it all together it works beautifully, bound together tightly by Frankie’s distinctive voice. Simultaneously silky and strong, her voice carries you along through each song, shifting seamlessly from quietly soothing to powerfully booming.

Cowgirls - The Cowgirls is an alternative rock/top 40 cover band based out of Dallas. Formed in 2019, the band met through the University of North Texas’ music programs, while some of the members have been playing music together for as long as eleven years. Whether you’re into Bruno Mars or Blink 182, The Cowgirlstry to fit as much alt-rock into their jukebox set as they can.
