Ancillary Deadline Draws Near For Barbecue And Steak Competitors

The World Food Championships’ (WFC) Barbecue and Steak competitors have extra opportunities to rack up prize money outside of its 8th annual Main Event in Dallas, Texas. This October, thanks to several great Food Sport sponsors, competitors can sign up for several ancillary challenges. However, with the deadline for sign-ups (Sunday, September 1) quickly approaching, cooks interested in earning some additional cash need to register now before it's too late!

Ancillaries such as the Cattle Dog Coffee and Bolner’s Fiesta Seasoning challenges are exclusive to the Barbecue category, whereas the highly sought after SteakOut People’s Choice event is only offered to Steak competitors. 

Check out the details for each ancillary below.

Cattle Dog Coffee – Thursday, October 17th – Barbecue Zone

Up to 40 Barbecue competitors can participate in this challenge. Competitors are required to provide their own protein. Cattle Dog Coffee will provide 12 oz. of Guatemala Whole Bean coffees of both light and dark roast coffees for competitors to use for this ancillary. Competitors interested in this ancillary should arrive at the Barbecue Zone at 9 a.m. Turn in begins at noon. 

  • 1st Place = $300

  • 2nd Place = $200

  • 3rd Place = $100

Bolner’s Fiesta Seasoning – Thursday, October 17th – Barbecue Zone

Up to 40 Barbecue competitors can participate in this challenge. Competitors are permitted to use any protein of their choice for this challenge. They must season the protein with any combination of Bolner’s Fiesta Seasonings, which will be provided in the following flavors: Ground Comino, Crushed Red Pepper, and Cinnamon Sticks. Competitors interested in this ancillary should arrive at the Barbecue Zone at 9 a.m. Turn in begins at 1 p.m.

  • 1st Place = $300

  • 2nd Place = $200

  • 3rd Place = $100

SteakOut People’s Choice – Saturday, October 19th – SteakOut Zone

Up to 20 Steak teams can sign up to be part of this fun sampling event. Steaks will be provided to teams by Hassell Cattle Company. Teams will grill up samples and serve to the public for approximately 1.5 hours. The team that collects the most tokens will take first place!

  • 1st Place = $500

  • 2nd Place = $300

  • 3rd Place = $200
