Little Bear Brand Plans Big Debut at the World’s Largest Food Fight!
The World Food Championships (WFC) has announced the Texas-based company, J&D Produce, Little Bear Brand, has signed on as the Official World Burger Championship Infusion Sponsor for its 8th Annual event, which will make its debut in Dallas, Texas, October 16-20.
J&D Produce, owner of the Little Bear Brand label, is a premier vegetable grower, specializing in greens, melons and year-round sweet onions. The company will be sweetening the pot with its’ signature HoneySweet Onions at this year’s World Burger Championship.
J&D Produce has been developing and perfecting their proprietary HoneySweet onion for over a decade. HoneySweet Onions are the mildest onions on the market, thanks to exceptionally low levels of the acids that cause tears when slicing onions and make onions taste pungent and spicy.
“We’re extremely excited to welcome the Little Bear Brand to this year’s food fight,” said Mike McCloud, President/CEO of WFC. “Fresh, local Texas produce from brands like Little Bear ensures that our Food Champs can create the flavorful and innovative recipes that surprise and delight us at our Main Event.”
The Top Ten Burger competitors will infuse Little Bear’s HoneySweet Onions into their creations as they prepare their dishes for the $10,000 prize in the 2019 World Burger Championship, presented by Bo Jackson Signature Foods. While the majority of competitors will be familiar with sweet onions, Little Bear will be on hand to provide cooking and flavor insights on this special variety of onions.
“We’re passionate about produce. As a family owned farming and packing operation, we understand the deep connection between people and food. We go to great lengths to ensure we are growing the highest quality produce and making sure it’s as fresh as possible when it reaches the family dinner table,” commented Jimmy Bassetti, founder and President of J&D Produce. “We couldn’t be more excited to represent Texas in this competition with our deliciously mild and tearless HoneySweet Onions. We love these super-sweet onions, and we can’t wait to see how these burger building maestros infuse them into their burger creations.”
WFC’s 8th Annual Main Event is scheduled for October 16 – 20, 2019, at Reunion Tower Lawn in Dallas, Texas. To keep up with all WFC news, follow the event on Twitter (@WorldFoodChamp), Facebook and Instagram (@WorldFoodChampionships). Click here to book your room for #WFC2019.
