Fire Woman Challenge to Heat Up World Food Championships in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (July 26, 2024) - The World Food Championships (WFC) announced today that the annual Fire Woman Challenge will be making a triumphant return to the festivities taking place this November at the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion, located at The Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center in Indianapolis. The Fire Woman Challenge is an old-fashioned barbecue brawl where female pitmasters go head-to-head in a 90-minute, no-electricity, no-menu-limit competition. The challenge promises to be exciting and packed with award-winning pitmasters serving up a variety of live fire specialties from across the globe.

The field of pitmasters and celebrity judges will be selected and announced in the coming weeks based on performance at a number of global events from across the culinary landscape. If you are a celebrated female pitmaster and would like to participate in the event, please complete this form for consideration. Competition details for the Fire Woman challenge will be revealed to the selected contestants once they are chosen and have accepted the invitation. This event is scheduled to take place on November 10th and can be viewed onsite by anyone who purchases a General Admission ticket.

“For years we have made our best efforts to shine a much deserving spotlight on the women of barbecue,” said Mike McCloud, Founder of World Food Championships. “These culinary experts remain one of the most under-appreciated groups of competitors in our industry and we utilize this event to celebrate their talent, passion, and creativity.”

The World Food Championships (WFC) is the premier food sport competition globally.  Since its debut in 2012, WFC has amassed a tremendous worldwide following, providing a one-of-a-kind culinary experience at its events, as well as numerous live and made-for-TV shows. In addition to popularizing competitive cooking, the WFC platform has had an undeniable impact on the food industry, facilitating the creation of more than 10,000 new dishes and supporting communities via partnerships with various local non-profits, charities, and food banks throughout the United States. In short, the WFC platform has given birth to “Food Sport” by providing a level playing field, a fair judging system, innovative culinary programming, ambassador opportunities, TV visibility and a process that allows talented culinary teams to compete in ways never seen. The 2024 World Food Championships will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 8-12, with qualifying events being conducted throughout the year.
